Msnet with Virtual PC

Post by SuitedAces » Sun Mar 23, 2008 12:34 pm

I am having trouble getting Msnet to work with a guest computer in Microsoft Virtual PC.

I turned off all firewalls and was unable to connect.

Has anyone ever attempted this ?
Is there an add in with Virtual PC that needs to be installed ?

What kind of networking is set up for the VPC - is it sharing the same IP as the host? That could be an issue.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?

No the Ip isn't the same as the host .
I have 2 physical computers on a Lynksys router.
And the guest computers have these IPs

physical computer 1: 192.168.15.100
physical computer 2: 192.168.15.101
guest 1 (virtual comp): 192.168.131.65
guest 2 (virtual comp): 192.168.131.66

I was able to change the ip of the guest computers so that the all but the last octet matched.

Then I was the able to run the macro using msnet.

But the firewall is a huge problem.

With no firewall on a host computer or it's guest computers (virtual) I can run a macro from different physical computer on either the host or it's guest computer.

With a firewall on the host only, I can allow mshed.exe in the firewall and the macro runs on the host from another physical computer.

But I cannot for some reason run the macro on the guest even though I have no firewall on the guest.

So the firewall allows msched.exe and the macro runs on the host from another computer, but when you try to run a macro on a guest computer (virtual computer) which has no firewall it doesn't go through.
