Is it possible to run MS from a USB stick, i think I remember in nthe distant past that it was possible!.

There was a portable part but I believe that stopped with version 12.

I believe that it also didn't include the compiler.
That being said I have been creating a portable version of it with compiler since early v9. Has been working great, although do run into the odd issues with run program %SYS_Native%, although I believe I have fixed that, but haven't updated it until I upgrade to the most recent version.
