FTPGetFile error

Post by Dorian (MJT support) » Thu Mar 09, 2006 6:21 pm

Ever since I upgraded from WinMe to XP Pro, I get the following error 90% of the time I use FTPGetFile

500 ESocketException: Error 10014 in function WSAAsyncSelect
Bad address

I have set the timeout to 60.

What could be the problem?

One more thing.

The FTP will work about 1 in 20 times but only if I have just rebooted and not run any programs before running the macro.

I still seem to be having problems with this, and I'm getting the same error message. Any ideas guys?

Do you have the XP firewall turned on?

I have no idea what is causing this. No one else has reported it. It could have something to do with the fact that you upgraded from Me to XP. Windows Me was notably buggy and I'm not sure I'd trust the install procedure to XP directly. Something may have been left over and your winsock stack could be corrupted.

The first thing I would do is reset your winsock settings. Here's a link showing how to do that:

Often network issues can be resolved by removing TCP/IP and other network components and then starting over by creating a new network connection.

Did you know we are now offering affordable monthly subscriptions for Macro Scheduler Standard?

Yep, it's certainly a strange one.

I should have been clearer, it wasn't an actual upgrade to XP pro, it was a virgin installation, I just meant I changed over from ME to XP pro.

No Windows Firewall running. I have ZoneAlarm pro running, but that's the same as before, and I had no problems then.

A few years back after upgradeing to XP pro from 98s/e i seem to recall haveing some problems also..... what i had to do was play with a few settings in the internet option/advanced tool ..seems there are a few settings you can adjust for ftp browsing hope that helps.
