I installed msnet on my 2 home computers and ran the server setup on each.
I used the GUI to run a test macro , nothing happened.

Can msnet be used on a LAN ?

Yes, msNet runs on a LAN. It requires a network of some sort.

Make sure:

1. After installing the server component, restart Macro Scheduler.
2. You specify the correct computer name or IP address
3. Specify the port number you entered when you set up the server
4. Specify the correct password, if you set one
5. Specify the correct macro name. This macro must be set up in Macro Scheduler on the remote machine.
6. Make sure your firewalls are not blocking msNet or the port number you chose
7. With the trial version you will have to OK the dialog on the remote PC.

The macro will fire on the remote machine. That machine needs to be logged in. Enable logging for that macro so you can see what, if anything, happened.

To test whether this is a firewall issue try running msNetGui locally - i.e. on the same machine as the msNet Macro Scheduler server. Specify 127.0.0.1 for the computer name/address. If it works then but doesn't when you run it from another PC, then you have a firewall or network configuration issue.

Does the logged in part mean that a user has to be logged in to the box?

I'm trying to run a marco via a URL call but this only seems to work if there is a user logged in and MS is running. I have started the MS schedular service by selecting the "Keep Scheduling on Exit" option.

Is MsNet able to run as part of the schedular service?
